The OrthoDykes E-mail List

This is a list for Orthodox Jewish lesbians. It was created just to have a place where Orthodox lesbians can meet or talk with other Orthodox lesbians. It is for women who are currently frum (Orthodox) or who are seriously considering becoming frum. It doesn't matter if you used to be or didn't used to be.

Bisexual women who are partnered with other women are welcome as well, as are TS women who are living full time as women.

Other than that, there aren't a lot of rules. You can post about anything you like. Things of interest as women or as lesbians or as frum Jews or any combination of the above. Partner issues, parenting issues, closet issues, anything. Think of this as an ongoing social gathering for Orthodox lesbians.

One important thing, though: Please respect the other women on this list. Even if you feel strongly about something, try and remember that other women may feel strongly as well. We want this to be a fun place to be. There are other places to get into snappish arguments.

Also, while we want to respect privacy, it's a lot more comfortable to talk with people using a name. So please don't try and subscribe to the list with a handle like "NiceJewishGirl" or something like that. You don't have to give your real name, but we do ask that you give us an actual name to call you by. The list is private, and there is no web-based archive, as many lists have.

Lastly, there are a number of lists for GLBT Jews. Here are the five that I know of, so please be sure you're subscribing to the right one:

GayJews is for GLBT Jews, regardless of observance or belief.

NiceJewishGirls is the same, but for lesbians only.
FrumGays is for GLBT Jews who are or have been Orthodox, or attended Yeshivas or Hebrew Day Schools. Because the group is of heterogeneous backgrounds, discussions are not restricted to Orthodox views, and there is a focus on accepting the views of individual members even if they diverge from Orthodox ones.
